Man, it's 1am in the morning and i'm still awake. HAHAH!! Well, finally i had the chance to blog on what has happened today. the main topic was basically on the recent event that i attended, which was the HelloSecure@SG Secure Coding Competition. For the benefit of those who don't know what is it about, it's basically creating a website like Amazon.com or ebay.com.sg with security features, such as encrypting your credit card number and prevent hacking to be done. Well the competition started off on 23rd Sep, 8am. went to NYP for the competition. have to thank Nicholas Lim's dad for sending us there. really appreciate it man. When the competition started, we had approximately 24 hours to do up the website. so it was splitted up between two days. Day 1 === We went off with a good start, as everyone was busy doing their own work. To tell you the truth, I was actually clueless on what I wanna do. and same goes for some of my teammates. So we kinda studied on what are we supposed to do, in the midst of the competition! hahahaha. everybody starts to experiment and all. Also, in the middle of the competition, saw one group walked out of the competition. Found out the main reason was: They had no idea on the framework. LOL! What's worse. they were from NUS. Well they could have at least tried. Started coding at 8am. Ended coding at 8pm. HAHA! When i went back home, my eyes were like bloody red!! what's more, it was already 11pm by the time i reached home. staring at the computer for 10 freaking hours. GAH!!! Day 2 ==== Reported @ NYP at about 8am again. and i learnt one thing during this day, having macdonalds consecutively for breakfast, lunch and dinner is really sickening!!! anyway, finished up the coding and the GUI with my team. hahah. i kinda found out that the only time that you can see REAL teamwork in an IT competition is when it's the last 15 minutes to the end of the competition. HAHAHAHA! I could see my team debugging every single error that occured when integrating the GUI with the infrastructure codes. hahahhahaha. Ended at 8pm, feeling unhappy because of two things: 1) The website codes weren't hosted via the web server. It was still on Visual Studio 2008. [HUGE DEDUCTION OF POINTS] 2) Didn't get to code the payment gateway =((((((( Went home. =(( Day 3 === This time, we reported at about 9am. Had to present our website to the judges. By that time, my team had the mentality that we won't be in the top 5. because in the 10 teams that participated in the competition, all of them are actually year 3s. And we're the only team that has Year 1s and 2s together. :-O So we were just going in there for experience. But, when they announced that my team was in the top 5, i was like "This is the biggest joke of my life!!!" ahahhahaha. my teammates were really laughing hard, because they themselves couldn't believe it at all. But when they announced the top 3, we didn't win. OH well what the heck.. I'm already proud that my team went into the top 5. :D It's an achievement i'd say. And to those who supported me for the competition, i would like to shout out a big thank you!! =] ありがとう ございます ひめ さま!!!!! <3 :P HAHAH! :P
